The wheel is the traditionaltool used by potters to model object of use. the table top rotates around a vertical axis, while the fingers strength and sensitive shape the mass of clay that turns with them. They draw cavity and convexity in many different shapes, but all, inevitably, have a round base: vases, plates, bowls and glasses are made in that way.
The family of seats TORSONUDO is he result of a more complex operation. The artisan become an artist and uses the twist which is both the strength to support and the willingness of giving up. The decoration chooses other conceptual themes: plots of fields, types of houses, the matter of other materials or different decarations.
The seats TORSONUDO are handmade one by one by Giovanni D'Angelo. Giovanni works in the extraordinary space of his stazzone at Polizzi Generosa where is mother and father used to make jars, bummuli, the tipical Sicilian tiles, catusi and clay bricks and, later, the first ceramics. From 1850, his grandparents had produced eartenware in itineranti stazzoni built, from time to time, near the sites where they found the clay. In the 90s this stazzone became Giovanni's pottery workshop.
